A Brief History of Emirates Airlines

When we talk about airlines, in general, no discussion or debate would be complete without mentioning Emirates Airlines. It started off in 1985 with backing from Dubai’s Royal Family and two aircraft, a Boeing 737-300 and an Airbus A300B4-200. Emirates maiden flight was in October 1985 from Dubai to Karachi, Pakistan. Since then it has kept on growing and never looked back. Winning various awards for performance and overall best airlines several times, it has one of the best business class and 1st class services in the world and is one of the most luxurious as well. Emirates Air Fleet and Destinations

Emirates Air has over 230 aircraft in service at this time. They include a mix of Airbus and Boeing wide body airplanes. Since September of 2016, Emirates is the largest user of Airbus A380’s with over 96 planes in its fleet and more on the way. It is also the world’s largest Boeing 777 user with over 130 planes in service. As far as destinations are concerned, Emirates flies to over 140 cities in 81 countries across 6 continents, with more destinations being added all the time. From its hub in Dubai, it operates over 3,600 flights a week to various destinations.
