A Brief History of the Airblue Airline

When we talk about the various private airline services in Pakistan, we need to mention the Airblue Airline. This airline gained a lot of popularity since its inception in 2003; it has headquarters in Islamabad’s Stock Exchange Towers. It went fully operational in 2004 with flights between the three major cities of the country, namely Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. Initially having started off with three leased aircraft, it started rivalling the national carrier in terms of occupancy in a short amount of time. This allowed Air blue to expand its operations to other cities of Pakistan. Through the success it gained, it was soon taking on international flights starting from the Middle East, its first international flight was in August of 2005 from Karachi to Dubai. In 2007 it started flight operations in Europe by flying to Manchester, UK. In 2012, Airblue Airline made an interesting move, it had its IATA code changed from ED to PA; PA was the code for the former aviation giant Pan Am.
